A Story of Waiting, Delays, and Divine Alignment

After I finished college, I struggled for many years to find stable employment. The unemployment rate in my country was extremely high, and despite applying relentlessly—both locally and internationally—no permanent job opened up for me. Year after year, the only opportunities I received were internships.

It was a painful season of waiting. I watched others move forward while I remained in the same place, wondering why doors refused to open for me. I questioned my timing, my preparation, and at times, even my prayers.

The First Breakthrough That Didn’t Exist Before

In 2020, after years of disappointment, I finally secured my first solid job. What I later discovered changed how I understood God’s timing entirely.

The role I was hired for was not an existing position. It had once existed years earlier but had been removed when the organization restructured. Only after another organizational change was the role reinstated—and that was when I was hired.

Simply put, if the organization had not changed its structure, that job would never have existed, and I would not have been employed.

At the time, I thought I was waiting on a job. In reality, God was rearranging systems.

When God Does It Again

Years later, I sensed it was time to move on. The work environment had begun to affect my mental and emotional health, and I prayed for a new beginning.

Once again, God surprised me. The company that hired me brought me in for a role that, once more, did not previously exist. It was created as a result of organizational restructuring.

To some, this might sound like coincidence. To me, it was confirmation. God was doing again what He had already shown me before—working quietly, strategically, and intentionally behind the scenes.

Devotional Reflection: When God’s Silence Is Still Action

This journey taught me a powerful spiritual lesson: delay is not denial.

While I was waiting—often frustrated and discouraged—God was actively working. He was aligning leadership decisions, shifting organizational structures, and preparing spaces I could not see yet. Long before I received the offer letters, God had already gone ahead of me.

Many times, we think God has gone silent because nothing appears to be happening. But Scripture reminds us:

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14

What we often label as waiting is actually divine preparation. God may be changing people, systems, policies, or timing so that when the door finally opens, it opens in a way that sustains us.

A Lesson for Anyone in a Waiting Season

If you are praying and waiting—especially when you know your prayers align with God’s will—be encouraged. God is not idle. He is working in ways that may not yet be visible. The closed doors, the delays, and the silence are often evidence that He is arranging something better than what you could have accessed earlier.

Waiting does not mean nothing is happening. Waiting means God is working out the answer.

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” — Galatians 6:9

Closing Prayer

Lord, help me to trust You in the waiting seasons. When I do not see movement, remind me that You are working behind the scenes. Strengthen my faith to believe that every delay is purposeful and every answer will come at the appointed time. Amen.
